DMS1 Urban


Audience	Central Office Technicians and Managers

Delivery and Location	The course is leader led. It is presented at one of your sites using existing DMS1 Urban equipment for the hands-on and application part of the course. There are no risks of service interruption during the training.

Overview	This 2 day (14 hour) course provides the student with sufficient knowledge to maintain DMS 1 Urban equipment in a field-oriented environment. The Job Aid supplied will enable the student to identify system and circuit troubles in DMS 1 Urban technology. The job aid will also provide a reference guide to allow them to proceed to troubleshoot and clear system-generated alarms, as well as customer service problems. If presented at or near a remote cabinet site, the students will receive demonstrations and hands-on instruction.

Objectives	Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to: Understand the names and functions of the internal components that comprise DMS 1 Urban technology Understand the logical and physical numbering of line cards and common equipment cards within each equipment configuration (i.e. CT/RT and SMU/RCU) Understand how to read and interpret coded alarms at the system maintenance card with the assistance of a provided job aid Perform system and circuit level provisioning and trouble clearing tasks Follow corrective maintenance procedures for troubleshooting and clearing customer service problems Complete preventative maintenance routines associated with remote cabinet sites Identify potential rectifier and battery problems at remote cabinet site Assess battery health using Ohmic testing at remote cabinet site Perform emergency power restoration procedures at remote cabinet site

Duration	2 day course (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily) or as arranged.
